This time of year I am making final arrangements for what has been traditionally called the Tobermory Low Light Workshop. Last September was a “no go” due to the pandemic and that has brought many changes to the workshop including our base location. In 2021, we will be based out of Tamarac Island on Lake Huron. It is a calm and inspiring location surrounded by the freshwater landscape. It is a comfortable place which will, no doubt, facilitate the exchange of ideas among the participants.
The Bruce Peninsula is the foundation for the workshop. The landscape offers the intersection of the waters of Georgian Bay and the limestone of the Niagara Escarpment. The turquoise water is unique to the great lakes. Add waves, wind and sky and the photographic potential abounds.
There is something special when strangers gather together with a common interest. The shared experience is exciting and inspiring. The “light bulb” moments and laughter are the greatest rewards. After the isolation of last year, I look forward to those moments.
